Assistant Coach | Carlos Perez

Carlos Perez begins his 10th season as an assistant coach on the Concordia University Texas baseball staff. He assists with all aspects of the program with an emphasis on developing and overseeing the team’s strength & conditioning workouts.

In his eight seasons, Perez has helped the Tornados make four regional appearances while also grabbing two ASC Tournament titles and three ASC regular season championships.

Perez was a member of the 2012 ASC West Division Coaching Staff of the Year, as the Tornados were ranked as high as fourth nationally during the season and finished with a school-record 37 victories in the program’s NCAA Division III era. In addition, the Tornados won their second consecutive ASC championship and made their second straight NCAA West Regional appearance.

Perez also helped the Concordia program post one of its biggest turnaround seasons in program history in his first season on the sidelines. After winning just 15 games in 2010 and being picked to finish sixth among eight schools in the 2011 American Southwest Conference West Division Preseason Poll, the Tornados more than doubled their win total, won a share of the West Division title for the third time in school history, captured their second ASC championship and recorded a pair of wins at the NCAA West Regional to finish the season ranked 24th in the final D3basseball.com/NCBWA National Poll.

Prior to his arrival at Concordia, Perez was an assistant coach for the baseball team at Connelly High School in Pflugerville from 1999 through 2006. The Cougars posted a winning ledger every season and won several district titles with Perez on the sidelines. During his tenure, Perez coached multiple players who earned scholarships at NCAA Division I institutions and one student-athlete - Greg Golson – who is a Major League Baseball player and a first-round draft pick of the Philadelphia Phillies.

Perez, who currently works with special needs students at Hendrickson High School in Pflugerville and has a personal training license, is a native of Killeen, Texas and currently resides in Round Rock with his wife, Karen, and daughter, Ailee (20).
